Reception For Boone Valley Teachers Held Here On Thursday

The annual Boone Valley teachers reception took place Thursday evening in the Renwick gym. The event, sponsored by Renwick Hardy and Lake Lutheran churches, featured a program led by Pastor Norman Johnson with master of ceremonies Wilbur Niseen. Community singing, solo and duet performances, slides on Jasper National Park and the Pacific Northwest, and a church-model tea table decor followed.

Boone Valley Bobcats Face Homecoming Against Gilmore City

The fourth annual Boone Valley homecoming events begin Friday with a 1 p.m. program in the high school gym, parade at 2:30 p.m., and a 7:30 p.m. football game followed by a dance. Tickets are on sale as the Bobcats seek a Friday victory over Gilmore City after recent rough weather and a close win over Emmetsburg Catholic.

Boonene Valley Band Performs At Algona Festival

The eleventh annual Kossuth Band Festival in Algona featured 22 bands and 22 queens with a parade at 11 am, a 15 minute Valley Band march, the crowning of 1960 Band Festival Queen Shirley Amosson, and a Hungarian entertainment group. Evening events at the Kossuth county Fair grounds included a mass band, various exhibitions, and dinner guests.

Baptist Circles Host Guest Day For Eagle Grove Goldfield

Baptist Mission Circles held a guest day in the church dining room with Goldfield and Eagle Grove groups in attendance. Entertainment included a solo by Kathy Emmett, flute by Marilyn Lerdal, and songs. lunch starred a fall flower tea with Annette Engstrom pouring.

Saddle Clube Elects Officers and Plans Trail Ride

The Boone Valley Saddle Club met at Amvet hall Renwick with 17 members. Officers chosen were President Lawrence Nerem Vice President Frank Selmeng and secretary treasurer Bruce Wigans. A trail ride is planned for Oct 18 at 2 30 p m starting at Smith park with monthly meetings to follow at Amvet hall.

Lola Friday Set For TV Bowling Show Return

Lola Friday qualified to bowl on Bowling at TV on October 4 over KQTV Ft Dodge. She won against seven qualifiers and will appear again on Bowling on TV Sunday October 11.

District Youth Rally at Webster City hosted by ELC church

The District Youth Rally of the ELC church was held at the Webster City church Sunday with Rev Rau as host pastor. Attendees included Rev and Mrs L. Mitchell, Mrs Eldon Walter, Mr Irving Friday Joyce and Ronnie Hefty Judy French Patricia Dobbs Philip Hefty Larry Nelson David McCurry Kenneth Friday Donald Mitchell and more as guests at various gatherings across the area. Two Renwick YF members were elected officers Kenneth Friday as president and Ronnie Hefty as vice president.

Block Named Mayor After Garrison Resigns

Arnold Block was appointed mayor by the town council to fill the vacancy created by Warren Garrison who resigned Tuesday evening. Block filed nomination papers for the November 3 election. Council candidates include Louis Heetland Vern Harris and Elmer Schnetzer. Also filing were Don Palmer Adrian Rade for council. R.L. Rossman and Dr N H Hesse declined reelection and will serve until their terms end December 31.

Mr and Mrs Don Washburn of Milwaukee welcomed a 7 lb 2 oz baby on Wednesday October 7 1980 at St Josephs Hospital. The mother is sister to Dr Sutton and previously worked in his office. Grandparents include Mrs Vern May and Mrs Selma Jack with relatives Donald Kratt and Paula. The family hosted visits from Walter Kraft Mrs Mary Schulte and others from Kanawha and Eagle Grove.
