Antipollution Device Program Suspended by California Board
California Air Resources Board voted to suspend the $150 million Antipollution Control Device program for 1966 70 model cars until October 1 and consider scrapping four of six devices. Studies show the devices may cause engine damage and higher fuel use, risking emissions reduction goals and a gasoline shortage. State Sen. Holmdahl urged delay for legislative review, while board member Sullivan favored scrapping the program.
