Dead Body Found in Chicago Woman Miss Sophie Singer

The battered body of Miss Sophie Singer aged 30 from Baltimore was found in a Chicago flat once occupied by G D Conway his wife and her fiancé WR Warthen. Warthen discovered the body after returning home and neighbors helped batter down the door. The Conways fled and police search them. Singer had about 1000 dollars. robbery is suspected.

Nine sisters at SP. Johns Orphanage in San Antonio died early Wednesday while guiding nearly 100 orphans to safety as a devastating blaze engulfed the building. The fire destroyed the institution and left the city mourning the nun's sacrifices and the lost children.

In Austin on October 30 the Court of Criminal Appeals granted bail for J B Sneed set at 20000 dollars. Judges Davidson and Harper issued the decision while Judge Pendergast dissented arguing bail should be at least 235000. R P Lomax learned Wednesday morning of the sudden death of his brother S S Lomax in Ardmore Tuesday night. Paralysis caused the death. The Meridian resident was about 70, leaving a wife and five children. RP Lomax went to Meridian Wednesday afternoon for the funeral.
