Returns from Tuesday's vote indicate Republican Hooper holds a about 6000 vote lead over Democrat ex-Gov Benton McMillan as results drip in from Nashville. McMillan supporters at his headquarters refuse to concede the race.
President Taft arrived in Washington for a conference after Governor Hadley traveled in a private car attached to Taft's train at Harrisburg. Tadhey joined the President for talks in the capital.
A Belgrade dispatch reports the Turkish stronghold at Monastir capitulated to the Servian army yesterday afternoon. The action marks a major move in the Balkan conflict as Servian troops secure the Monastir region.
Early returns show a Democratic plurality around 47,000 with wins for governor and the state Legislature. The party also names two U.S. Senators, Shafroth and Charles B. Thomas, as results come in from Denver.

In Grand Forks on November 7, Wilson's plurality over Taft is projected at 19,000 and over Roosevelt at 18,000.
Partial results from 24 of 31 Denton County precincts show a light vote total of 1549 with the Socialist party leading the GOP and Progressive in presidential electors. Debs 166, Taft 185, Roosevelt 65. Colquitt 1484, Johnson 135. Andrews 166. Lasater 6. Prohibition 14. precinct 22 only Socialist-Labor 1. Amendments and offices tallied with mixed majorities and opposition.
