The German cruiser Yorck rammed and sank Torpedo boat G-178 in the North Sea near Heligoland. About fifty to sixty sailors drowned, with only fifteen rescued. Dispatch from Berlin reports the incident and casualties.
The Balkan allied nations individually accepted the European peace mediation proposal, signaling alignment with the mediation effort as reported from London on March 5.
Republican Senators have selected Senator Gallinger of New Hampshire as floor leader. A separate item notes a planned session of the Grand Lodge of the Odd Fellows at Fort Worth in Houston, with Fort Worth chosen as the next meeting place.
The Texas the Pacific Railway Co. won an injunction against Joan McKenna over a pump house on his land. Damages: $50 to the railway for destruction of the pump house, $250 to McKenna in a cross action for land and crop damage. A road easement for hauling to the pump house was discussed. The trial ends a four year dispute featuring local lawyers and contempt of court incident regarding McKenna.

John H. Marble of California, secretary of the Interstate Commerce Commission, will be appointed to membership on the commission, succeeding Franklin K. Lane who will become Secretary of the Interior.
Judge W M Peck of the Fifteenth District at Sherman is named as special judge in the cattle theft trials of J E McDaniel and George Thomason. Judge Spencer is disqualified for having represented McDaniel before his election. Greenville March 5. The state filed an ouster suit against Standard Oil Co of New York and New Jersey, Magnolia Petroleum Co, and Corsicana Petroleum Co alleging violation of Texas antitrust laws and seeking one million dollars in penalties.
