Tie Marking Hammer May Have Been Used In Percy Murder
CHICAGO (UPI) Police followed two promising leads in the murder of Valerie Percy, the 21 year old daughter of a Republican senator. A black wool glove with leather palm was found at the Percy estate matching fibers from the second floor bedroom and a slashed screen door. Investigators also pursued a tie marking hammer, a tool used to mark lumber, to see if it could have been the murder weapon. Coroner Andrew Toman evaluated whether such a hammer could shatter Miss Percy's skull. The family remains away at an out of state hideaway.
