Otho Davis pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter

In Fayetville county court Otho C. Davis an Ingram Branch resident indicted for murder in the death of housekeeper Hazel Haimbrick entered a guilty plea to voluntary manslaughter and applied for probation. The hearing also noted other court actions including a no show and capias for James Wood and a separate burglary charge against Charles Estep.

Oak Hill Civitan welcomes Leo Kullman member

Oak Hill Civitan Club admitted Leo Cullman of Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co as a new member during a 6:44 p.m. meeting at Motel Hill. In Whitesville, Appalachian Electric Power Co crews replaced a damaged pole after a line was hit by a falling tree. Fellow member Joe Gallaher was absent due to hospital discharge and home recuperation.

Gospel Singers Move State Convention to Camp Caesar

The West Virginia Mountain State Gospel Singers Association will hold its 1953 state convention at Camp Caesar in Webster County on the last weekend in July. The move from Lover's Leap Park Fayette County was decided at Humphrey's Restaurant due to nonavailability of the former site and the better facilities at Camp Caesar. Attending were Heral Keneda Mullens president and Frances Whitt Otsego financial secretary along with other officers. next meeting set for March 31 in Wyoming County to determine a new location.

Design Of Mines Building Approved For Mount Hope

Mount Hope site donated by the city will host a $700000 U S Bureau of Mines operation building. The design received approval Monday from the U S General Services Administration, enabling construction at the Mount Hope facility.

Tiz Jones Freed On Technicality

Evangelist Clarence Jones known as Tiz was freed on a directed verdict in Summers County Circuit Court after the state failed to prove ownership of the garage involved in the alleged break in at Grimmett Motor Co. The defense argued misidentification of ownership. Jones faces related charges in other counties while awaiting appeals.
