Judge Charges Jury Reis Burglary Trial Nearing Conclusion
The trial of ex Charine Lillian Reis proceeded toward verdict as Judge Charles W. Stau denmeier charged a seven by five jury. Prosecutor Friedberg claimed Reis recruited a burglary ring that looted coal magnate John B. Rich’s home in August 1959 and that Bing Miller supplied information and cash to Reis. He asserted the safe held far more cash than Rich admitted and argued Reis benefited from Miller, buying a night club weeks after the burglary. Defense sought a mistrial, which the judge denied.
