A Raleigh County man Floyd Caldwell of Dry Creek will celebrate his 100th birthday on December 13. Born in 1857 in Mercer County, he has lived in four states and held roles as postmaster and farmer. He remembers Civil War era hardships and has a large family including grandchildren and great grandchildren. 18 Year Old Defends Suit Over Route 61 Auto Crash
An 18-year-old defendant in a Pett County damage suit presents his own defense in Circuit Court. The Women’s Society of Christian Service at Oak Hill Methodist Church held a devotional titled The March of Missions. Mary E. Hill Circle presented it with Mrs. John Scott leading, assisted by several members. President Mrs. Robert Flack led the business session and urged attendance at World Day of Self Denial and Prayer on Oct 30.
