DDT Resistance Triggers Fifth Fly Problem Rise
An Ohio entomologist says heavy housefly numbers this summer result from DDT resistance and sanitation laxity. C R Neiswander notes DDT is no longer a miracle killer. He cites 25 percent wettable powder or 20 percent lindane as effective against resistant flies, with spray to wet walls. Breeding near moist organic matter, including horse manure, garbage, and decaying fruits, sustains the problem. Regular spraying or elimination of breeding sites is advised.

So You Plant By DEAN Distributed by Cent
When replanting a tree dug from a nursery, prune about one third of the top growth to balance roots and crown. Trim bruised or crowded branches but do not cut back the leader. Fibrous root trees need less pruning than those with long tap roots.

Plant a Tree Care Tips for Best Growth
