McCarthy to Speak at Oak Hill Fundraiser Tomorrow

Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin will address a noon fundraiser at the White Oak Country Club in Oak Hill. A 11 a.m. airport arrival with motorcade, luncheon tickets $25, and speeches continuing to Fayetteville and Welch mark his West Virginia stop in the current campaign.

Fayette County Demos Schedule Political Rallies Oct 20 23

Fayette County Democrats announce a series of political rallies from October 20 to 23 in multiple venues. Candidates Neely Pride Williams Hobart and others will attend with speakers at Lochgelly Hilltop Meadow Bridge Lookout Mount Hope and Montgomery venues. All district and county candidates are expected to participate with organizers finalizing arrangements.

William Washington Toney 77 Dothan Funeral Services Tuesday

Funeral services for William Washington Toney 77 of Dothan will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at the Dothan Community Church with Rev Ernest Lee Masters officiating Burial will be in Dothan Cemetery He died Sunday after a three week illness He was born July 4 1875 and was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church UMW No 6713 at Mahan Survived by wife Martha three daughters three sons 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren Also survived by one brother two sisters and two half sisters The body was moved from Tyree Funeral Home Oak Hill to Britt residence Dothan for viewing today then to the church an hour before services.

Bragg Infant Dies Funeral Set Tuesday

Funeral services are planned for Glen Franklin Bragg seven month old son of Mr and Mrs General F Bragg of Edmond. The vigil will be at Good Hope Baptist Church Graydon at 2 p m Tuesday with Rev Bert Jones officiating and burial in the church cemetery. He died Saturday at Oak Hill Hospital and is survived by his parents three half sisters Elizabeth Karen and Phyllis Adkins a half brother Elza Adkins his paternal grandfather T W Bragg of Winona and maternal grandfather Ma Hoy Dorsey of Spruce. The body will be moved from Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home East Rainelle to the home of his paternal grandfather at Winona at 6 p m today.

Chandler son born in Huntington family announces third child

The Rev. and Mrs. Jarrett T. Chandler announce the birth of their third child and first son about two weeks ago. The Chandlers, formerly of Mullens, now reside in Huntington where Mr. Chandler serves as minister of Tucker Memorial Baptist Church after leaving Mullens First Baptist Church.

Sophia Oak Hill Students Elected by Freshman Class

Two area students hold freshman class offices at Concord College. Jewel Hartsog of Sophia serves as secretary while Steve Miller of Oak Hill is vice president. Other officers include Tom Karo and Patty Repass with regional ties noted. Frances E. Kimble of Princeton dies at 87 with services pending at Lilly Grove Baptist Church. Burial in Hopkins Cemetery. Mt Hope infant born with heart hole given chance to live

Mt Hope, Beckley doctors report a newborn boy, Joseph Conrad, born Sept 3 to Mr and Mrs Ramond Forst, has a small hole between the heart’s auricles but may outgrow it. He remains in incubator and uses oxygen, weight now 6 pounds 5 ounces. Parents recount initial low hopes but medical staff now say good survival chances exist.

Seven Miners Suffer Injuries at Work

Seven miners received treatment at Wyoming General Hospital last week. Injuries included a fractured foot from a rail, a shoulder injury on a mine car, a leg injury from slate, a broken foot from rock, bruises from a mine motor incident, a knee injury from a hammer, and a knee cut from chopping wood. The report also notes an annual fall rally for the Baptist Woman's Mission Society of the Rockcastle Association at Kopperston Community Church.
