Legion Auxiliary Awards Scholarship to Miss Noble

Oak Hill resident Rose Ann Noble daughter of Mr and Mrs James T Noble received a two year pre nursing scholarship from the American Legion Department Scholarship Fund announced by Mrs H P Thomas at the unit meeting. The gathering at Mrs FE Straughans home on Woods Ave included co hostess Mrs E A Masters. Membership drive noted nineteen senior and two junior memberships. A Civil Defense registration will be observed from Nov A special 2 30 pm broadcast titled Their Dream of Peace. Attendees at Fayetteville district auxiliary meeting included Mrs Joan Scott Mrs L Aman and Mrs H P Thomas who reported back. Past presidents plan to send gifts to veteran nurses in West Virginia Hospitals. Next meeting set for Ford Addition home of Mrs H P Thomas with co hostess Mrs H McGinley.

Ten Men Fined On Various Counts In Oak Hill

Ten men were arrested in Oak Hill over the weekend by state aid city police on various charges. Three were fined in magistrate court and seven drew police court fines. Names include Walter Darrell Shrewsberry Beckley fined 50 dollars and five days in jail for driving while intoxicated and Jim Burns Summerlee fined 50 dollars for the same offense. Others faced speeding, license revocation, defective brakes, and fighting charges with fines ranging from 16.50 to 50 dollars. Three men from Fayettevile Wins ton and Oak Hill were among those fined 16.50 for fighting.

Samuel Earnest Kincaid of Maple Fork dies after 13 weeks illness from cerebral hemorrhage at a hospital. Homecoming Queen Set For Collins Grid Program

Nancy Walton Wyant, Sophia Collins High School sophomore, was chosen as Homecoming Queen for the Oak Hill vs Hinton game. She is active in Youth Sunday School, Youth Temperance Council, Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y, Altatorica Society, National Honor Society, BAumgartner, Dreamacter, dramatics and Future Business leaders. Her attendants include Ruth Ann Dixon, Baumgartner and others from the school.

Oak Hill Collins High School will be represented at the Southern Student Councils meet in Florida with Margare Hess, vice president of the Junior Class, and Mrs. Sie Scott leading the delegation.
