Former Beckley Resident Dead
John A. Boone 80, once a leading figure in southern West Virginia coal, died yesterday at 10 30 AM in a Weston hospital after a long illness. Born in Fayette County he studied at Marshall College and spent decades in Fayette coal operations with Col. Joseph Beary and others. He lived in Beckley recently and ran Raleigh Steam Laundry before retiring in 1930. Funeral at First Baptist Church Sunday 2 30 PM, burial in Lookout family cemetery, under LaFayette Lodge 57. Survived by wife Tola Amick and two Huntington sons. four Boone brothers also live.

Car Accident Fatal To Park Superintendent
D H Phillips 68 superintendent of the new state park at Berkeley Springs West Virginia died at Washington county hospital after injuries from an automobile crash on the state highway five miles west of here Wednesday night. The car left the road and struck a telephone pole. Phillips had a broken neck and did not regain consciousness. Two daughters survive.
