Couple dies 30 hours apart after 64th anniversary

In Monroe county an alleged slayer of merchant William A. Davis 65 was jailed in Lewisburg after officers ordered removal for high feeling. Davis died later at Pearisburg Va hospital from injuries after he investigated a disturbance May 13 in an apartment above his store where Sherman Mills’ brother lived. Mills was arrested on an assault charge. Davis intervened, was struck and fell, fracturing his skull on steps.
