Cape Canaveral bulletin reports astronaut L Gordon Cooper completing his third Earth orbit at 1 35 p m EDT with no serious problems noted.
Circuit Clerk C Harold Hanks may inspect Lake Stephens records at any time. A May 13 1963 Court letter signed by President John C Ward states the records on construction and operation expenses including checks, invoices and contracts are public and available for any citizen to inspect or copy during normal office hours.
The Raleigh County Weather Bureau forecasts a cloudy period with scattered showers tonight and a warmer, mostly cloudy day tomorrow with additional showers. Separately, L Gordon Cooper's Faith 7 Atlas launch achieved orbit at 9:10 a.m. EDT, aiming for a 22 orbit mission to test weightlessness and inform Gemini and Apollo programs.
The memory of Beverly Samans of Beckley murdered in Boston this month inspires a music scholarship foundation. Joe and Louise Herrera sue Cole Baking Co and George White in Raleigh County Circuit Clerk's office claiming on December 4, 1961 White negligently drove a truck into a vehicle carrying Mrs Herrera. They seek 25,000 for damages to the husband, 50,000 for the wife, 25,000 punitive damages for him and 50,000 for her, plus 5,000 medical costs and costs of suit. The law firm Scherer Bowers File and Hudson represents the plaintiffs.
West Virginia forecast notes increasing cloudiness with scattered showers or thundershowers late tonight, low 48 to 52. Thursday will be mostly cloudy, warmer with more showers and possible thunderstorms. Today the high should reach upper 60s to low 70s in southern Beckley vicinity with variations by location. Kanawha County Court filed an amended reapportionment suit in U S District Court arguing the 1963 redistricting act discriminates against Kanawha and other counties. State Attorney General Donald Robertson sought dismissal, contending federal jurisdiction is lacking since state remedies remain and the 1963 Legislature action may render the suit moot. The county court urged relief from this court to compel the Legislature and governor to fulfill duties.
