Zeta Phi Beta Initiation and Community Outreach in Beckley
The Alpha Zeta Zeta Chapter held a May 13 initiation at Wanda Wrights home for Alice Monroe Hyman with a candlelight service. Soror Laura Watkins and Blanche Wilkerson reported Bible and religious literature donations to Raleigh General and Beckley Hospitals. The event featured a salad course and a guest list of Sorors including Wanda Wright and Lara Moss. Nearby, George Coates hosted guests from McKendree as Watkins donated books to inmates. The day also covered Home Department class schedules, a pastor’s anniversary at New Hope Baptist Church East Beckley, and community notices. Local units met for associations, while personal notices reported illness and obituaries. The Danish bid for the 1960 Summer Olympics was noted by The Associated Press.
