Robbers Gain 15000 From Brinks Guards at Thompsonville
Four masked gunmen held up three Brinks guards in the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Factory pay room in Thompsonville Connecticut about 4 am. They beat the guards then escaped in an automobile with the $15000 payroll for 300 third shift workers. The wounded guards were hospitalized in Springfield Massachusetts. Police searched the plant for hours with no trace of the robbers. Boston authorities report a separate January 17 Brinks heist yielding about $1.7 million. No link between the Thompsonville robbery and the Boston case was found.
