Husband Suspect Headed For W V A Ohio Mother Daughter Shot To Death In Home
In Marietta Ohio Mrs Elsie L McKnight 41 and daughter Sandra 14 were found shot to death at their western city home. Police sought estranged husband Gale E McKnight believed headed toward Parkersburg West Virginia on Ohio 7. He had a prior March 1 1955 conviction for threatening to kill his wife and received a 10 day suspended sentence. The two other daughters Abigail 15 and Rose Anna 11 found the bodies before 7 am after returning from an overnight stay. Authorities said the killings appeared to involve a .22 caliber rifle though police chief Thomas B Sprague would not confirm. McKnight left the home Monday afternoon with a lunch pail and was headed for work on the night shift at the American Dynamic plant, which a spokesman said he never reported for.
