Miscalculation Brought Tragedy At Beckley College
Miss Topsy O'Dell Beckley College dean of women died in a highway crash on the West Virginia Turnpike near mile post 61 while driving to ward Beckley. Investigating police say she pulled out to pass then re entered the lane and collided with a tractor trailer. The car wrapped around the rear of the truck and she died instantly from a fractured skull neck and multiple limb injuries. She was English and biology professor at the college and guest of Miss Mary Katherine Barnes aiding centennial plans.
