On Thursday Manuel Armijo Jr. appeared dazed at a logging camp near the scene and later was jailed in Socorro for questioning by Sheriff Barney Hickson who plans further talks as Armijo agreed to a lie detector test. Armijo says he wandered the woods for a week and identified the remains as an old skull a calf head and a porcupine found at a relative’s ranch during a visit. He recalls the car catching fire and diving out then waking to remember nothing until the night before.

PINEVILLE RNS William Euell Hanshaw 37 of Guyan is held in Grand Rapids jail awaiting Wyoming County action on forgery charges. He was arrested after stepping off a bus. Wyoming County Sheriff Short had buses from West Virginia watched. Hanshaw is charged with forging 1195 dollars to Pine Chevrolet Co for a 1955 model car from their Oceana lot. The forged check used the name of another Euell Hanshaw of Coal Mountain. Short suspects relation between the two men. The car is not located. Hanshaw says it was left in Man. Deputies will transfer him to Pineville after Charleston where the governor will sign a warrant. Extradition waived.
