Myron T. Renick told Mount Hope American Legion Post 103 that Fayetteville is the preferred site for the county war dead memorial due to veterans records kept there and a county court appeal to Oak Hill was discussed. Oak Hill offered a large lot and 25 000 toward the 150 000 building fund, but the post kept its stance, not affirming either city. The meeting outlined plans for a Junior Baseball League and listed delegates for the Seventh District Convention in Hinton, with a July 1 officers’ slate and August 5 final elections.

State to Study Route 16 Repairs in Mullens
Mullens officials asked for Route 16 resurfacing. State Road Commissioner E L Worthington said an investigation will determine repair needs. Chief Engineer M L O'Neal will direct the maintenance division to study the route and report back to Worthington for council plans.
