Economy gains strength as June shows continued recovery
Washington AP reports June data indicate the U.S. economy strengthened with higher industrial production new housing starts and rising personal income. The Federal Reserve index rose to 130 percent of the 1917-49 average marking a second straight month of gains after an eight month dip. Personal income reached 351.6 billion dollars annual rate, just 0.3 billion below last August's peak, driven by higher wage and salary payments.
