State Road Superintendent Glen Kincaid estimates three days to clear slides of brush and rock and repair Fayette County roads damaged by heavy rains Monday evening and night near Oak Hill.

Fayette County sheriff seeks a seven year old boy who disappeared around 1 a.m. while visiting Terry Ward’s home three miles north of Fayetteville. David Offenbacker of Covington Virginia is described as 3.5 feet tall with a heavy build, wearing bib overalls a T shirt and no shoes.
Mr and Mrs Merrill Keans will lead Nogales post activities next year with Knapp elected post commander and Mrs Knapp chosen president of the ladies auxiliary. A small item notes a coat of black liquid shoe polish will refresh fireplace screens.
Paul Clayton Meadows, 55, of Ingram Branch, died at 11:10 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Hospital after extended illness. An electrician for Milburn By-Products Coal Co. of Milburn he was born August 8, 1903 in Barger Springs and was a member of the William N. Page Masonic Lodge A F and A M. Survived by wife Grace three daughters Pauline Burnside Billie Jean Meadows and Irma Marshall two brothers Burgers Meadows and Janes S. Meadows one sister Elizabeth Franklin and four grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are at Tyree Funeral Home Oak Hill.
RNS reports heavy rains flooded Fayetteville area forcing a family from their home. Dallas Stotts described two and a half feet of water in his residence and radio repair shop near Rendezvous Drive In on U S Route 21. Several Fayetteville lawns were also flooded.
A general clinic in Coal River will be held at Presbyterian Clear Creek Church at 10 am, Claude Stover store in White Oak at 11 am, and Home School Barn at 1 pm. Vaccines for polio, whooping cough, typhoid, and smallpox will be offered under the charge of Mrs. Viola St. Clair. Rentals include community visits by local residents and families as they travel between Colcord and nearby towns.
Jim C. Miller serves as summer acting pastor of Mount Hope Baptist temple in MT. HOPE. He is a senior at Alderson-Broaddus College Philippi and a Gauley Bridge High School graduate who has held leadership roles in Baptist Youth Fellowship locally and nationally and was elected national president of the BYF by the BYF council at Green Lake Wisconsin.
Funeral services for Erskine Miller Tincher were conducted Saturday at the Methodist Church in Ruskin with burial in Ruskin Cemetery. A Crickmer, West Virginia native, he died Thursday at home. Survived by wife Mina Tincher, daughter Helen Benton of Columbus, son Clarence of Ruskin, three sisters and four grandchildren.
Oceana R W Ragsdale and daughter Peggy returned from Daytona Beach Florida. Miss Ragsdale had earlier spent days at Myrtle Beach with Miss Janice Cook and Miss Gloria Cook. Mrs Lile Ragsdale visited relatives in Red Oak Virginia. Several locals listed as visiting or hosting, including families in Beckley and Charleston, plus health updates from Stevens Clinic Hospital.
