Follies of 1948 to Benefit Raleigh County Library

The Beckles Junior Woman's Club will sponsor the Follies of 1948 on April 13 and 14 in the Memorial Building auditorium. Proceeds will fund more books for the Raleigh County Public Library and related goals. Club president Mrs Latane Ware says $1,000 could add about 500 volumes. plans include longer library hours and a book-mobile for future county use.

New York Teen Curfew Proposal Faces Broadway District

City council member Samuel Di Falco proposes a curfew for unchaperoned teenagers 16 and younger in the Broadway district after 10 PM. Beckley Women of the Moose Attend Bluefield Mid-Winter Confab

A Beckley delegation of Women of the Moose travels to Bluefield West Virginia for a mid winter conference on chapter development. Girl Scout Leader Courses Slated in Beckley This Week

Two four day sessions will train women to lead troops in Beckley. White leads meet 1 30 to 3 30 p m at Methodist Temple basement Monday through Thursday. Negro leaders train 7 to 9 p m at Stratton High School on the same days. Courses are free via Girl Scout Council. Instructor Mrs N L Kistler, a former executive director with training from Camp Edith Macy, previously served in Petersburg Fort Smith and Fort Sill.
