Death of Mount Hope Legion officer Ester Laubach
Ester Laubach, the only woman to hold Legion office in the state, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in McGuire Hospital Richmond. A World War I Navy veteran, she served as historian of Mount Hope American Legion Post 1945, later working with the Bureau of Mines in Washington and on several staffs. She helped found the S. S. Jacob Jones American Legion Post 52 in Washington, D. C., and served as adjutant for the District of Columbia department under commanders Jones and Drain. Funeral plans are pending the arrival of a sister from Berkeley, California.

Teen-Agers Face Court Action on Petty Crimes
Four Mullens area teenagers face grand jury action on felony charges and two more youths are referred to juvenile authorities after arrests in a string of petty crimes. They confessed to breaking into Leonard's Radio Shop in Oceana last October, stealing a wheel from an Amer Gas truck, taking cash from Mullens Taxi operator Mollie Heath, and pilfering gasoline from parked vehicles. Two suspects were questioned about a gasoline theft behind Peterfish Sales and Service. Robert Ruffus, 18, Mullens Hill, was held for theft of the truck tire. Sammy Cooper and Freddie Goode, both 17, were arraigned for breaking into the radio shop. Lewis Alten Walk, 18, Mann, for receiving and disposing of stolen goods. The four are in jail on bonds of 500 dollars each. The other 11-year-old Mullens boy was released to his parents' custody pending juvenile action.

Five Hurt in Princeton Wreck Near Memorial Hospital
Five Athens men were injured when their automobile went over a bank near Princeton and struck a tree. Ernest Neele, about 27, was listed in critical condition with possible neck and skull fractures. Charles Alvis, 19, had a broken wrist. Walter Thompson, 23, Bill Hazelgood, 21, and Parker Alvis were treated and released. State Trooper Lively cited Route 49 as the crash site and said the cause was under investigation.
