Snowstorm Closes Roads and Schools in Mountain State
Traffic returned to normal as crews cleared roads and tracks after a heavy snowstorm in the mountain state. Two deaths reported Mrs Mary Riggs of Moundsville from exposure and Henry Thomas of South Charleston struck by a car. Snow depths ranged three to 24 inches and highways opened except US 250 in the northern valley. Schools closed in many communities and about 25 000 miners in Wheeling area gained a holiday as snow blocked tips and entrances. Bus lines from Clarksburg to Parkersburg, Wheeling and Charleston planned to resume service late today.
