He was 79 born November 2 1891 in Belfast Virginia. Survivors include son Clarence Jackson Jr of Oak Hill and daughter Jean Ann Rocco of Washington DC with five grandchildren. Body to be shipped to Collins Funeral Home in Glen Jean.

Guard Rail Saves Bus From Plunge on Mercer County Mountain
A recently erected guard rail on Herndon Mountain in Mercer County stopped a bus carrying five or six passengers from plunging over the precipice after a collision with a car driven by a man named Jones from Oceana. Injuries were reported and road crews, numbering about 50, cleared three to four inches of snow statewide to reopen routes.

Fire crews respond to smoke at Richmond Home
Volunteer firemen from Mullens were summoned to the new Richmond Home of Homer Keyser at 3 45 p m Wednesday after smoke began seeping from around the flue connection. Fire Captain Billy Cook said damages to the house were slight.

City patrolman Billy Cook said a thief entered Kidds Grill in Mullens through a side window on New Year’s Eve. The intruder forced open a pinball machine to take about $35 in nickels, plus a few packs of cigarettes and roughly $1.25 in pennies from the register. The breaking and entering is under investigation.

A fire at a Baileyville eight room house damaged one upstairs bedroom around 1 36 p m Wednesday. Pineville firefighters arrived after the blaze was extinguished. A neighbor reportedly used a bucket of cement and water to fight the fire causing some water damage. Damages estimated at a few hundred dollars.

Auto Crash In Fayetteville Leaves One Injured
Fayetteville news reports Jobin W Coleman an Oak Hill patient after an automobile crash Wednesday afternoon at Gray's Market Court. Another car driven by John Robert McClung formerly of Oak Hill hit his vehicle as it stopped for a left turn. McClung was arrested for operating with a license and posted a 16.54 bond that was forfeited when he failed to appear for a hearing.
