Rites Saturday For Mrs. Whitt

Funeral services for Mrs. Della Louise Bond Whitt will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oak Hill with the Rev. Freddie Steele officiating. Burial is in Kincaid Cemetery. She died Thursday morning in an Oak Hill hospital after a cerebral hemorrhage. She was born March 10, 1927, in Beards Fork. Survivors include her husband Roy, her mother Mrs. Caroline Mullens, stepfather Burl Mullens, two sisters Ruth Hess and Grace Coleman, a brother Sgt. William G. Bond, a stepson Theodore Whitt, and several stepchildren.

Funeral services for Newman Mullins set Sunday

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Black Eagle Community Church for Newman Mullins with Rev. Carl Grose officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Beckley. Mullins, a 61 year old carpenter, was found dead Thursday morning in his Wyoming Hotel room. Coroner ruled heart attack. Three Men File For Wyoming County Court Commissioner

Wayne C. Hatfield of Oceana filed Thursday for Wyoming County Court commissioner followed minutes later by Tommy Smith, also of Oceana. Garland L. Ellison of Bud filed in the afternoon. Hatfield has two sons and hails from Clear Fork. Ellison is a former deputy sheriff of Wyoming County.

Youth to Attend Sister’s Funeral After Fatal Wyoming County Shooting

A 15 year old boy and his sister Gertrude Whit son 13 were involved in a fatal shooting on December 30. The sister died from a heart penetrating wound with a shotgun. The brother planned to return to jail Saturday morning for a hearing before Judge Robert Worrell as investigators continue the case. A lie detector test was conducted with sheriff Bert Short withholding results. another youth Dennis Lester, 19, was released from jail following the test.

Social Security Aid Clinic to Help Disables in Whitesville

Charles R. Teets of the Social Security Office will visit Whitesville City Building on January 23 at 10 a.m. to assist with old age and survivors insurance forms and other Social Security business. The event explains disability benefits for certain dependent children and eligibility rules including age, severe disability, and parental death conditions.
