Foreign War Vets To Name Officers At March Meeting
OAK HILL new officers to be elected at the March 26 Veterans of Foreign Wars post meeting. Nominees include commander Olin Miller and John Claypool. vice commander Mack Decker and Haven Allen. adjutants J R Kirby and Ernest Bragg. quartermaster James P Painter. Members also approved buying 12 Army surplus rifles for events and parades and backed efforts to obtain an Armory and a National Guard unit for Oaks Hill.

Treadway Dies In Vet Hospital
World War I veteran Fred W. Treadway, 36, died Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. in Huntington Veterans Hospital from a heart ailment. A miner before service, he belonged to Odd Fellows Lodge No. 206 of Oak Hill and was born January 19, 1911 in Minden. Survived by his mother and several siblings, his funeral will be at Tyree Funeral Home Tyree Chapel Friday at 2 p.m., with Dr. J. Tyler officiating. Pallbearers from the Odd Fellows Lodge include John Huffman and others.

Oak Hill Girl Becomes Bride On February Wedding
Juanita Ford daughter of Mr and Mrs P D Ford of Oak Hill and Charles W Adkinson son of Mrs J L Adkinson of Charleston were wed February 22 in a ceremony at the Oak Hill Methodist Church officiated by Rev A A Angle. The bride, a Oak Hill High School Beckley College alumna who worked as a secretary in the state capitol, wore aqua crepe with brown accessories and gardenia corsage. The groom a Charleston High School and Capitol City Commercial School graduate served in the Marines during World War II. They will live in Charleston after a two week wedding trip in the West.

Mullens Lions Club will consider sponsoring a minstrel show the last one in 1942 was a success. They may use talent from the local high school if scheduled. Four Charged With Assault In Pierpont Cafe Incident
Three men and a woman face charges of unlawfully feloniously assaulting Roscoe Morgan at the Sanitary Cafe in Pierpont. They waived preliminary hearings, posted bonds of 1000 each, and were held to answer to a Wyoming County Grand Jury. Morgan suffered cuts to the head from a beer bottle during the Saturday night altercation.
