Former Mount Hope Man Receives Distinguished Service Award
Eugene E. Quenon of Vincennes Indiana a former Bureau of Mines health and safety supervisor and now director of safety for Peabody Coal Co has earned the Department of the Interior s Distinguished Service Award and Gold Medal for 28 years of service. During his career Quenon served at Pittsburgh Norton Johnstown and Mount Hope before Vincennes and aided in training early mine inspectors and in rescue and safety efforts including a flooding rescue at a Bridgeville Pennsylvania mine.

In Fayetteville two damage suits totaling 120000 were set for jury at noon. Ruby Jones as administratrix of Joseph Hunt's estate and Mrs. Hunt sue Ben Kyle Daniels for 20000 while Daniels seeks 100000 in damages after an August Route 60 auto crash that killed Hunt and Mrs Daniels.
