Funeral today for Welch Brown 41 Glen Fork
Funeral services for Welch Brown 41 of Glen Fork were held at Pine Grove Baptist Church Ravencliff with Rev Verne Cook and Rev Wiley Brooks. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. Brown died Sunday at Muens Hospital. Born April 27 1916 in Pineknob he was a son of Amos Brown and Sarah Brooks Brown. Survivors include two sisters Mrs Alice Bailey Sabine and Mrs Mary Ellis Glen Rogers seven brothers Willie Sabine Wade Willard Wayne Weldon Wiley Worley Glen Fork two half brothers Thurmond Marianna Elmer Oceana and one half sister Mrs Lula Stewart Hatcher. The body moved from Evans Funeral Home in Oceana to Worley Brown’s home Monday at 4 pm.

Funeral services and burial will be held in Chicago for Dr. James McHenry Jones 61 a former Wyoming County school teacher who became a dentist after World War I. He died Saturday in a Chicago hospital. He retired from practice in 1956 and is survived by his wife Daisy a sister Mrs Eula Fay Bennett of Beckley a daughter and a brother. He was born June 21 1896 in Institue and was a member of the Methodist Church.

LEWISBURG The Celin and Wilson Shows will headline Midway Park during the 1958 West Virginia State Fair week from Aug 10 to Aug 16. A fire at 2 p.m. Monday damaged the home of Bill Legg in Minden with an estimated $300 in losses. Oak Hill volunteers from the Fire Department responded, locating the blaze sparked by an overheated chimney. Snow suits and upstairs clothing were destroyed. the house, insured, sustained damage.
