Pinepoca survey follows fatal Piney train death
Harold Riffe recounts a rain soaked morning trip with County Superintendent Bernard B. Chambers and George Parker to Pinepoca on the Piney River. They observed the death of Howard Clifford, 26, of Wright, found beside the tracks after a passenger train struck him. The party then toured the ruined mining hamlet, heard locals’ talk of a planned Pinepoca school, and discussed a potential bus route and repairs to a council room initial setup for an Adult Emergency Education program alongside a county school.
