Hit And Run Driver Held In Accident
Dale Meadows a 15 year old girl of East Beckley remained in serious condition after a hit and run near her home last night about 7 o clock. Police say the car was driven by Charles Brubaker 19 Raleigh and dragged the girl 50 to 75 feet before it halted on an embankment. Brubaker was arrested near a filling station on the New Raleigh Road. a second youth Toots Mills 17 New Raleigh Road was being sought. The abandoned car bore a 1931 front tag and a 1933 rear tag. Brubaker faces hit and run and other charges. The injured girl was taken to her mother and stepfather Miss Meadows had been returning from a Methodist Epworth League meeting when struck.

S A McCarus 32 of Charleston died when his car overturned near Fayetteville Saturday evening. Linville couple from Tralee in the car were injured and rushed to Oak Hill hospital where they were reported improving. McCarus, native of Damascus, Syria, was en route to Charleston and unmarried. Execution of woman seen in Franklington case
In Franklington Louisiana a 38-year-old grandmother, Mrs Allie Mae Purvis, was convicted by a jury of bribing her Black yard boy Lloyd Richardson to push her husband into a river during a fishing trip and drown him. The verdict carries the death penalty automatically.
