During surprise visits by Wyoming state and county officers 20 to 25 punch boards were confiscated and eight tavern proprietors faced magistrate court charges for illegally possessing punch boards. Walter Collier of Bud paid a $50 fine, Ada England and Paul Walker of Oceana $25 each, with other proprietors unnamed.

Sunday Services for G E Carr Held
Funeral services for George Ernest Carr were held at 2:30 p.m. yesterday after death from a cerebral hemorrhage at Memorial Hospital. Dr Edward Stubblefield led the rites at the family home on South Ninth Street followed by burial at Beathaven. Carr, 59, a Roanoke native, worked with the Virginian Railroad before returning to Princeton in 1931 to run a local laundry. He is survived by his widow, a Chicago daughter Mrs Gordon Kyle, a son George Ernest Carr Jr a Loyola student in Los Angeles two grandchildren and several siblings.

Brady Pegram is held in Fayette County Jail in default of $500 bond awaiting grand jury action on a charge of attempting to rob the King Theater Saturday night. A preliminary hearing before Magistrate W H Level heard that he tried to rob the ticket booth but Betty Alice Perry pushed him out. two other men apprehended him.

Doss Wins Appeal Over City Damage Award
R W Doss of Mullens won a State Supreme Court appeal that overturned a Wyoming County jury award of 4000 for property damage. The high court split 3 to 2 with two justices dissenting. Doss claimed 15000 against Mullens city for harm to a two story apartment and business building caused by Holroyd Avenue grade raising 31 inches.

John Q Ballengee 75 longtime president of D E Abbott and Co died yesterday in a Huntington hospital. He had worked with the picture framing firm since its 1900 founding. His forebear Issac Ballengee was among Hinton's first settlers, land deeded in 1789. The article notes Idaho’s name origin from a Shoshone expression.
