Farm Goals For 1947 In Fayette outlined by staff writer

Fayetteville report by B A Wright of Cong Branch outlines Fayette County Farm Clubs aims for 1947. Plans include a Southern State Cooperative Store at Oak Hill with 500 members, promoting livestock breeders in New River, a milk route to Beckley and Montgomery, supporting wool and lamb campaigns, pasture and meadow demos, and inviting new farmers to join. Also wood lot demos, backing three county canneries, improving utilities for outlying districts, supporting the Vocational Ag program, a conservation program with ponds and water control, delegations to state and regional meetings, TB and bangs disease testing, and a 500 membership goal for the Farm Bureau with 363 last year.

Lookout C W Bloom of Lookout celebrated his 87th birthday by joining a Waloza State Park hunt. Carrying a long-barrelled gun he remained lively and active, though he largely hunted alone and did not report any deer being shot.

Fayetteville businessmen held their first dinner meeting of the season on Monday at 6 30 in the Methodist Church basement. Fayetteville High School football players were guests of the association as officers and directors for the coming year were to be named during a post dinner business meeting.

Elmer Daniels Reported Improving at Home

Fayetteville deputy county clerk Elmer Daniels, absent about a month due to illness, is said to be getting along steadily at his home. Daniels, 44, previously faced medical leave and is described by officials as on the mend.

Cemetery Stockholders To Meet In Fayetteville Court Room

Fayetteville Cemetery Association stockholders will meet December 16 at 7 30 p m in the Circuit Court room. Surviving board members Mrs C A Goddard Mrs K M Cassady Mrs Ollie A Myles and Mr C G Jan julolo call the session to discuss administration of the growing cemetery and plans to lay out new lots following a recent donation by the late Mrs Laura Huse Harper. Proposals include perpetual care for new lots and possibly transferring oversight to the town council’s Cemetery Board. Notices have been sent to lot owners.

Richard to Attend Meeting On Polio

Owens Richard secretary of the local chamber of commerce and Fayette County March of Dimes drive chairman will attend the annual planning meeting in Charleston at the Daniel Boone hotel. Sterling Evans WV representative of the National Foundation Infantile Paralysis will explain its state and national work, with Richard accompanied by W. S. Racke from the foundation. Fayette County ranked fifth in last year’s drive with $6,000 raised.

Oak Hill Plaque to Honor 39 Former Pupils

Oak Hill high school to inscribe a bronze plaque honoring 39 former students who died in World War II. Esther Ward and Charles Webster wed in a private ceremony with plans for a NYC Christmas trip. Funds from scrap iron sales funded the memorial, to be installed in the high school within six weeks.
