The Mount Hope Junior Woman's Club hosts a benefit style show at the high school auditorium Friday at 8 p.m. to support the elementary school equipment fund and the home economics department. Free will offerings replace admission with proceeds aiding two school funds.

J Alfred Taylor publisher of the State Sentinel will serve as president of the Fayetteville Business Men's Association. Officers elected include E B Eskew vice president C H Maxwell secretary and treasurer Dan H H Perdue retiring president Rosser Long Jr J D Schultz J R Caldwell and C G Janutolo as directors. 35 to 40 Fayetteville High School football players attended a banquet with Coach Haupt and Hypes as guests. William G Thompson of Montgomery delivered the main speech and Roy H Johnson acted as toastmaster. A committee was named to plan Christmas street lights and the association plans decorations for the town. Fayetteville water supply remains critical after recent cold weather and mine water flow from Lochgelly mine is slight. residents urged to conserve. New members added Ralph E Grafton Chauncey Dodd and Carl Twyman. The group extended thanks to retiring president Dan H Perdue and officers.

Simms Louie Hendrix of Page, BC, died at his home yesterday at 11 40 am from a heart condition. Born in Orangeburg, DC on March 4, 1899, he was formerly in the hardware business. Survived by sister Mrs Jimmie Matthews of Orangeburg and nephew Johnny Arrington, with whom he lived in Page. Funeral at 2 40 pm tomorrow at the Page home conducted by Rev R C Jennings of Stanaford. Burial in Kincaid Cemetery. Body to be moved from Tyree Funeral Home to Page residence today.

Court Won't Bar New Trial For Rufus In Bastardy Case
The Supreme Court of appeals held that a retrial on a parentage charge against Carl Rufus of Maltens may proceed. It found no constitutional bar to retry after a jury changed verdict from innocent to guilty due to re instructions, noting bastardy is civil not criminal. The court also explained that the earlier innocent verdict could not be reinstated and a new trial had been warranted.
