London reports a constitutional clash as King Edward seeks to wed Wallis Warfield Simpson while Prime Minister Baldwin rules out a temporary compromise. He warns a morganatic marriage is not legal and says only a special act could allow a marriage and consort status with dominion assent unlikely.
In a terse remark the prime minister states his government is not prepared to push ahead with such legislation. The comment signals caution and procedural consideration in the current parliamentary climate.

William J. Farley, 66 year old farmer of Ghent, died from complications after a two week illness at his home about 11 tonight. Born in Wyoming county September 12, 1870, he lived here 28 years. He fathered 18 children, ten surviving, including Tamp Len Farley, Winnie Farley, and Charles Farley of Hot Coal, and daughters Cor dia Moye, Lula Shrewsbury, Cordia Moye, Ora Meadows, Hay den Ferguson, Merle Miller, Vincent Lush, Arthur Jones of Oak Hill, and others. He was father of James O. Farley, the first World War fatality from Raleigh county. Funeral services will be at 2 pm tomorrow at the residence, Rev Steve Woods of Coal City officiating, burial in the family cemetery.

Shriver, Irving Goldstein, Hugh Maloney, and visitors from Welch.
Charles Edward Clark nine months old son of Mr and Mrs H J Clark died of double pneumonia in a local hospital this morning at 1130. Surviving are two brothers Eugene Donald and two sisters Pauline and Lucy.
Charleston reports Governor Kump accepted the resignations of two Democratic liquor commissioners and ordered an audit of the commission’s accounts. Tax Commissioner Fred L. Fox mobilized four accountants, with no estimate of duration. A. Spates Brady led commission affairs at the governor’s request as the audit proceeds.
Julius Richardson was arrested Saturday night on a charge of stealing a car and appeared before Squire Frank Lemon waiving to the next grand jury. Richardson testified he was drunk and did not remember owning or taking a car, claiming he knew nothing about it. Clarence Marshall said he caught him backing the car from his garage and held him until police arrived.
A federal grand jury indicted Howard S. S. Johnson president and director of Point Pleasant National Bank and a Republican state senator elect from the fourth district for misappropriating 3120 in bank funds. Johnson remains free pending federal court convening.

Mrs. Andrew Bailey 58 of Harper Road died about 4 40 AM at home after eight weeks of illness and months of poor health. Born May 22 1878 in Amherst County Virginia she was active in the D A R United Daughters of the Confederacy and local women’s clubs. Survived by husband a son Andrew of Los Angeles four daughters and eight grandchildren. Funeral planned Sunday 2 PM at the Methodist temple with Rev H L Clay officiating, Sunset Memorial Park burial. Organized group excursions are a new feature for foreign tourists in the Soviet Union.
President Roosevelt sped home aboard the U S S Chester after 16 days at sea, docking next week in Charleston for a Washington return by December 15. He hailed a new era of friendship in the Pan American conference and said the good neighbor policy would be an unanimous American policy across the republics. He spoke with Uruguayan and U S journalists aboard the Indianapolis and noted his trip’s final stops in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires.
Mary Shipley named defendant in a $5,000 damage suit filed in the circuit clerk's office today. Plaintiff alleges injuries from a fall at Glen Morgan's Terminal Confectionery. Owners Grant Starr and Walter Muirr are named as plaintiffs.
E. W. Appling, 32, of Flat Ton, died at a local hospital around noon after his feet slipped on an icy highway patch sending him under a truck. He suffered a crushed chest and skull fracture and died despite immediate medical care. A second West Virginia ice-related death occurred in Hinton when a truck toppled into an embankment.
Grover C. Hedrick stated the county lacks funds to build two parking lanes beside the courthouse and relies on citizens for a substantial donation. As chairman of the fund drive, he noted businessmen were favorable to the project and expected strong response. The drive begins Monday as the court authorized parking drive construction along the courthouse.

Charle Harris, in his thirties, suffered a fall at Slate, being taken to Beckley hospital. He sustained severe contusions and injuries. hospital staff reported his condition as serious but stable.

Virgil Bowling aged 33 of Blue Jay was struck by a car near the Raleigh Baking company while walking home from war. He suffered a broken leg and was taken to Raleigh General Hospital where his condition was listed as good.
Floyd L Perkins 13 day old son of Mr and Mrs Leonard A Perkins died at the Beaver residence from pneumonia about 6 30 this morning Surviving are two brothers Amos Jr and Harry and a sister Irene Funeral services will be conducted by Rev Albert Richmond of Beaver from the home tomorrow at 10 30 a m Burial will be made in the Blue Jay Cemetery
