Plane Crash Kills Fourteen Including Auto-Cyro Inventor
A Dutch airliner crashed near Croydon airfield four minutes after takeoff for Amsterdam killing at least 14 aboard including Juan de la Cierva inventor of the autogyro. Nineteen-15 passengers and four crew were aboard. five were pulled from the wreckage, two others feared dying. Admiral Arvid Lindman was also among the victims. none were Americans. The craft struck a tree in fog and buried itself in an empty house.

Miner Killed By C. C. Train at Eccles Mine
Andy Henry, 68, sand dryer at the Eccles coal mine, was killed at 9 a.m. when a Chesapeake and Ohio freight train struck him as he crossed the track near the tipple while returning with coal. Officials said he walked into the path. the engineer and fireman could not stop in time. Henry had worked at the mine nearly ten years and had no local relatives. Funeral arrangements were in progress.

Arthur Jennings Succumbs After Eight-Day Illness
Arthur Jennings aged 42 a Beckley photographer died at 2 p m yesterday at McKendree Hospital after an eight day illness. He was the son of C D Jennings and brother of Mrs Cam Coffman of North Oakwood street. The body will be taken to Mrs Coffman’s home today and funeral services are planned for Friday.

French plane shot down by German crew over Spain
Paris says a German Junkers attacked a French diplomatic aircraft over Spanish Insurgent territory. Four passengers were injured when the craft, bearing French insignia, crashed at Pastrana Spain while in service of the French diplomatic corps.

Pneumonia Kills Stonecoat Woman
Mrs. Garnett Durham, 32, of Resoco, died at 11 a m after a ten day illness. Born at Crow in 1903, she was the daughter of Earl Pittman. Surviving are three brothers, three sisters, and four children.
