Father And Son Projects Shown At Kopperston Pack 119

At Kopperston Presbyterian Church Cub Scout Pack 119 showcased father and son projects with about 50 parents and Cubs attending. The display featured bird houses and feeders, scrap books, rock collections, and knot boards as part of the Achievements and Electives theme. Awards by Cub Master C R Rankin went to Den 1 members Bobby Gayle Henegar for Bear, Jimmy Johnson for Bear and Lion, Billy Williamson for gold arrow and two silver arrows. Den 2 David Thomas for Bobcat, Randall Brown for Bear, Donnie Morgan for Wolf, Den 5 Wavell for Wolf, Darrel Lester for Bear, and Larry Evans for Bear with one gold arrow. Refreshments were served by den mothers.

First Postal Deficit Reported By Britain

LONDON The British post office reports its first deficit in 35 years. Postmaster General Ernest Marines cites a shortfall of 5,086,938 pounds for staff pay raises totaling 4,709,009 pounds. Postal and telephone charges were raised recently to offset the grants.

Flames Destroy Sand Rock Home

BAILEYSVILLE LRS The five room home of Mrs Virgil Jackson at Sand Rock burned to the ground while she and her small daughter were at church in Baileysville Sunday morning. The house was uninsured and contents were lost. The fire started in the kitchen and spread quickly. Mrs John Jackson, the mother in law, 75, was rescued by an unidentified neighbor who saw flames. About 500 in cash belonging to the mother in law was also reported burned.
