Fayette County schools will open September 3 for the new term. A September 2 county meeting for all teachers will feature Dr. Donald McGary of Morris Harvey College and Margaret Leckie. Pre opening sessions cover supplies, plans, and coordination between the main office and teachers.

Fayetteville Council Closes Poolrooms At Midnight
The Fayetteville town council adopted an ordinance requiring pool rooms to close at 12 midnight and remain closed until 7 am with penalties of 25 dollars or 10 days in jail for violators. Mayor T A Myles presided with Recorder Ben D Keller and council members present. Action on extending corporate limits to include Kaymoor No 2 Hinman Addition Tank Hill and Laurel Creek is postponed until August 20. A sewer disposal plan contract with J B E Settle Engineering Co of Charleston was approved and a Sanitation Board named to supervise the project.

Mount Hope Post 103 of the American Legion will meet in the New Legion Hall on Main Street tomorrow at 7 30 p m. Double Ring Ceremony Ties Miss Clay and Roten
Miss Janeth Louise Clay together with James Emmavy Roten were married in a double ring ceremony at First Baptist Church Mullens on August 14. The bride wore a white linen two piece dress and carried a white Bible. Attendants were Bernice Ball and Harry Woods. The couple plan a trip to Roanoke with relatives in Makinton Charleston and Huntington before settling on Deegans Avenue Mullens. He is a World War II veteran and will return to work at Bruie Smokeless Coal Company Otsego store. The wedding party and families are from Mullens Circle Drive and Tralee. Fire damages cafe as mattress catches fire
Mullens Denver Halls owner of the American Cafe escaped serious injury when the mattress in his room caught fire early Wednesday. Hall and Wales battled the blaze and stopped it from spreading, with minor damage to equipment and floor leakage noted.
