Fayette County education official B C Peters urged Oak Hill Chamber of Commerce directors to back an immediate elementary school in East End Oak Hill. The Civilian Production Administration approved a $50,000 six room unit for first through sixth grade use, addressing congested county schools. A chamber committee will draft the resolution and distribute copies to boards of education. A five year work program and city improvements including water, sewage, and fire hydrant distribution were discussed to lower fire insurance rates. Gwen Rickard was named national councilor and liaison to the National Chamber.

After more than two years away Paul Mackay former Oak Hill High School band instructor is back as school opens in September He arrived Monday and began organizing for the coming term Mackay served eight years as band instructor before entering service in March 1944 as an infantryman with the 104th Division in Europe He was discharged in April 1946 A rehearsal is planned for Wednesday August 8 inviting all former band members to join and a Labor Day concert is planned with Mackay aiming to finalize the program in time.
