In Los Angeles on August 14 the court approved a nine month custody period for Mary Astor and ordered the diary impounded. The agreement, settling the actress's dispute with ex husband Dr. Franklyn Thorpe, brought a close to a bitter battle that nearly reopened moments after the hearing.
Dr Thorpe and Miss Astor clash as lawyers grab judge and demand reopening. Settlement assigns nine month custody to Miss Astor, June to August to Dr Thorpe, diary sealed in court depositary with restricted access, and limited visitation but child remains at home on most weekends.
