Pensioners Put Back On Rolls
Washington reports the Senate passed a House bill restoring all benefits to veterans of the Spanish American war boxer rebellion and Philippine insurrection. One dissenting vote by Senator Hastings allowed roughly 50,000 pensioners back on the rolls at an estimated first year cost of about 45.6 million dollars. The measure reenacts the June 2, 1930 law to extend benefits to 1898 to 1902 veterans not tracing disabilities to service. Average pensions would rise from 32.17 to 42.85 dollars per month.
