Investigation To Continue In Early Morning Fire
Fire Marshal reports a 4 30 a m fire destroyed a five year old five room house owned by Mrs Elia Hurley at Simon in Wyoming County. The structure was unoccupied though some furniture was found the next morning by Pineville School staff. Authorities say arson is not confirmed and investigation will continue.

Ex Fayette Man Kenny Stover Dies in Arizona
Kenny Alton Stover, former Fayette County resident, died Monday in a Phoenix hospital after an extended illness. He moved to Arizona in 1950 for health reasons. Born February 6, 1932 in Westerly, he was the son of Delbert R. Stover and the late Edna Fitzpatrick Stover. Survivors include his son David Alton and daughters Brenda and Debby of Gallagher, two brothers Howard Ray and Duffy Lee of Phoenix, and grandfather James P. Stover of Long Branch. Funeral services planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Dothan Community Church. Body to be returned tonight by train to Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, then to the grandfather’s home Saturday.

Talent from Raleigh and Fayette counties will compete in the Mount Hope Lions Club Variety Show at 8 p.m. May 6 in the High School Auditorium. Singing dancing instrumental and comedy acts will be presented. Prizes will be awarded to the top numbers. Tickets available at Mount Hope Junior and Senior high schools for students and at Mount Hope businesses for adults. Proceeds support Mount Hope Lions Club community activities.
