Final rites for Joseph Herman Peyton 74 were at 1 a.m. at Glen Ferris Methodist Church led by Rev. Don Cale and Rev. Austin Bagshaw. Peyton died Sunday in a Montgomery hospital after a long illness. Robert Eugene Roark 26 an unemployed mechanic from Mead is recovering at Wyoming General Hospital after a Virginian Railway train struck him last Wednesday for the second time in 12 years. Pax Levy Fate To Be Decided At May Elections
The fate of Pax's special levy, in effect six years, will be decided May 6 as citizens vote at the city hall from 7 am to 7 pm. Proceeds fund the Pax Volunteer Fire Department's 1959 fire truck, with a two year levy proposed since the truck will be paid off. Mayor Lacy E. Youth Hospitalized After Accidental Gunshot Wounding
A 15-year-old Glen Fork youth was hospitalized after injuring his left leg while handling a .32 caliber revolver. The gun discharged as he attempted to eject a cartridge, with the bullet entering the thigh and exiting without breaking bones. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon at a companion’s home.

Noon Fire Destroys Three-Room House at Workman's Creek
A noon fire believed caused by defective wiring leveled a three-room house at Workman's Creek. Occupant Elmo Dunbar was at work at the Ameagle mine when the fire began. His wife Mrs. Dunbar suffered burns and an injured leg while saving belongings. The dwelling owned by Alva Anderson of Virginia was uninsured.
