The Oak Hill Methodist Church will hold an officers election during its quarterly conference at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Wyoming General Hospital admitted 53 patients for the week ending Saturday. The list includes names and towns such as Mullens, Stephen son, Amigo, Amigo, and Herndon with patients from Mulens Wyco and surrounding areas. The report records daily entries from Saturday through Sunday with multiple patient names.
Mrs. Robert Clay hosted a birthday dinner at her Allen Junction home honoring her father D. E. Grindstaff and brother Douglas Grindstaff. Attendees included the Grindstaff families, Rev. and Mrs. Harry Pilkingdon, Earl Grindstaff, Larry Caparani, Sam Phillips, and others from Allen Junction and Pierpont.
J S Chapman of Coal River Lake Association calls Big Coal River residents to send flood damage pictures and clippings. The request follows a Monday meeting at Mount View Junior High School Gymnasium to build proof for flood prevention dams.
A 16 year old Pineville boy, Danny Dancy, escaped serious injury after wrecking a 1955 car while passing another on a slippery highway. The vehicle left the road and rolled about 50 feet to the edge of the Guyandotte River near Pineville Elementary School.
The Laurel Grove Baptist Mission Society met at Mrs. Melia Williams home to plan selling jclothespin bags and other items at the next meeting to raise funds for refinishing church pews. Mrs. Bess Lively led the lesson "Message To Garcia" and readings were shared by Mrs. Yvonne Abshire. A covered dish luncheon followed with secret pal gifts exchanged. the next gathering is May 15 at Mrs. Lorene Phillips home, with new member Mrs. Lena Canterbury among attendees.
Scarbro Garden Club held its meeting at Mrs. Alexander Doris home. Mrs. W B Errington led a Dorothy Biddle Flower arranging course program focusing on color and design. The club plans entries for the Fayette Council Flower Show May 17 18 and will participate in the Union Carbide Gardener of the year contest with prizes for each entrant. Governor Cecil Underwood’s Conservation Conference will be held in July at White Sulphur Greenbrier Hotel.
Mrs Eu gene Newsome and Mrs Carl Clifford attended the Founder's Day Dinner of Sigma Sigma Sigma at the Town n Country Restaurant Princeton. Guests of their daughters Linda Newsome and Janet Clifford, sorority members and Concorde College students, marked the 60th anniversary event.
Nicholas County couple Frank H. Kincaid and his wife of Kesslers Cross Lanes sue John A. Fleming Burnell and John Jarvis of Braxton County for a total of 75 000 dollars alleging injuries from a collision on West Virginia 39 near Gauley Bridge last year. The husband seeks 23 000 dollars and the wife 50 000 dollars.

Miss Edna M. Cook wed James G. Zoerb in a April 12 ceremony at St. Martins Chapel Fort Belvoir Virginia. The bride, daughter of Mrs. Zara Cook Corinne, wore a white lace dress with a pearl tiara. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Zoerb of LaCrosse Wisconsin. The couple plans a trip and will reside at 629 South 1st Arlington Virginia.
Proclaiming attire for the McDowell County Centennial, Tug River Centennial Belles Mrs Edgar Steele and Mrs P K Martin appeared at the Pineville Woman's Club installation at the Cow Shed. Steele, Taeger, is president of the Southern District Woman's Club.
Carl Hubert Harrah, 56, of 210 Woods Ave Oak Hill, died at 1 a.m. after suffering a heart attack. He was a former mine foreman for New River and employed by Unions Bankers Insurance Co. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at St Andrews Episcopal Church with burial at High Lawn Memorial Park Oak Hill Masonic Lodge and Sewell Chapter Royal Arch rites conducted by Oak Hill Masonic Lodge.
Mrs. Oak Humphrey is hospitalized at Oak Hill after a fall caused a broken hip. Weekend visitors include Phillips family members, Thomspon relatives, and Joan Wik es. Other guests travel from Chicago and Murfreesboro to visit. a Sunday dinner hosts Dr. Claude R. Collins and Methodist leaders attend a quarterly conference. Alice O Neal returns from Cannelton to join Turner family. John Ellison and grandson attend W E Cunningham funeral in Princeton. Cunningham was married to Sylvia Sweeney Ellison, a former Pax resident.
Camporee at Camp Collins near Pineville drew 29 members of Boy Scout Troop 147 sponsored by Pentecostal Holiness Church. Eagle Scout John J. Rinehart earned the bronze palm, two scouts rose to 2nd class, merit badges earned by J E Small, Larry Stidnam, Glen Runion, Jesse Gillespie, Johnny Gillespie, and Scoutmaster John Roach. Troop 13 won second place red ribbon among 17 troops represented. Berkeley County region noted historical county formation in 1772.
