A strong earthquake struck Sioux City yesterday at 9 30 PM local time lasting about a minute and a half. People rushed outside as crockery and bottles fell. no serious property damage reported. Forte Handall in Dakota saw severe shaking and excitement, Yankton reported faint tremors, and other Dakota towns noted varying effects. The Mormon Conference adjourned with Brigham Young pledging to establish a city under Enoch's order if Saints comply.
