County OKs Hospital Story Map to counter misinformation

Fortner Wins Quay County District 3 Seat in Landslide

Republican Brian Fortner, a 63 year old retired teacher broadcaster and rancher from rural Tucumcari, defeated Democrat Tommy Wallace by about two to one in the Quay County District 3 election. Fortner received 1 982 votes to Wallace 997 and will be sworn in after January 1, replacing term limited Franklin Mc Casland. District 3 covers Logan San Jon Bard Nara Visa Norton and east Tucumcari.

County clerk reports failed attempt to register non citizen to vote

Quay County officials disclosed that Ann Hall, a former Republican chair, took a Mexican immigrant to the county courthouse to register him to vote during late early voting. The man, who has a visa and other papers, needs three more years for citizenship. County Clerk Ellen White said the registration attempt was unsuccessful and will seek guidance from the Secretary of State. Hall defended the action as in good faith and cited media reports on undocumented registrations.
