High school star cleared to play after heart diagnosis

Lacey James a 6 foot 9 junior from Grand Rapids faced a heart abnormality discovered after a bronchitis cough. Doctors diagnosed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, but Mayo Clinic cardiologist Dr. Michael Ackerman cleared him to return to basketball with annual checks. He later played for Northern Illinois University and in the NBA G League with Windy City Bulls.
