A Roswell district court judge issued a temporary restraining order delaying the New Mexico Public Education Department from enforcing its 180-day school rule for the 2024-25 year. A hearing set for May 13 will decide whether to continue the injunction. Districts on a four-day schedule may apply for a waiver if student reading proficiency improves substantially.
